Jeanette Gil is a Cuban American children’s book author, grandmother, and proud Latina voice. Born and raised in Miami, she grew up surrounded by abuela’s cafecito, cuentos, y consejos, and Cuban traditions that shaped her love of storytelling. Her debut picture book, Aloe Vera’s Special Gift, draws from those roots to nurture kindness, healing, and cultural pride. Beyond writing, Jeanette is a doctoral student in Applied Learning Sciences at the University of Miami. She treasures her role as Abuela Gigi, finding joy in her grandchildren, her garden, and preserving Cuban traditions for the next generation.
